Graffitihouse LA launch party tonight

We have been seeing glimpses of this spot via facebook and instagram and heard rumors of the development of Graffitihouse LA. Well, tonight is the soft opening of the property to the public and the website launch as well, where visitors will be able to see videos of the graffiti being created. There is a lot of large scale production quality art including a RTDK wall with life size bus and a CALE K2S wall with a huge character in it amongst many others. Come out to the Hollywood/Silver Lake area tonight and bring your blackbook and also bring a toy with you for the toys-for-tots drive going on as well. We look forward to checking out the spot in person, and visiting the site when it is up. Best of luck to all involved in this new endeavor.

DCYPHER graffiti truck – Medicine Man

DCYPHER just finished this dope Medicine Man themed truck in Echo Park. Looks like the guy has fallen on hard times though, as a look on the other side revealed a shopping cart, telling us perhaps the Medicine Man was recently evicted from the vacant shack on the back doors of the truck. Stay Strong Medicine Man!

Billboard Bandits – Outlaw Artists in the Sky – graffiti book out now

Graff heads and fans showed their collective strength by funding a successful Kickstarter campaign with the goal of publishing Billboard Bandits – Outlaw Artists in the Sky. The book is finally in stores and available directly from Bandit Press online. The volume is hardbound with a black and white cover, and has 208 pages of high altitude stunt graffiti featuring first hand accounts and interviews with AM7 Crew, Augor MSK, Bleek CBS Mayhem, Daze TN NSA, Fuct AL LGF, Jeloe US BKF CF, LTS/KOG Crews, Naut One, Nine2 H2O, Pharoe LCF SOB, Pysa MSK LTS, Shank DME FUKQ, Silencer, YR Crew, The Billboard Liberation Front, Jimmy Cauty, Mr. Eggs and Ron English.

From the website: This book is unlike any other in its genre, delving deep into the worlds of graffiti and street art yet focusing on the fascination with conquering billboards. While graffiti itself is illusive in nature, billboard graffiti takes it a step further as one of the most daring aspects of the craft. The first hand accounts enable the reader to feel present in the world of these individual artists. Some of them are raw and gritty vandals while others provide more of a fine art feel. They specialize in everything from integrating their pieces into the advertisement itself to adding their artwork to the blank billboard back. A select group of these street artists are referred to as “billboard liberators”, manipulating the ads to fit their own agenda and convey their message. While each one is unique, they are united by one common thread – they are the billboard bandits.
